About this site
Hitose (人瀬) is a boat dive at Owase on the Kii Peninsula coast of Mie, two minutes from the harbour, with a maximum depth of 21 m and an average around 14 m. Three large hidden reefs hold rocky-shore fish such as striped beakfish, opaleye, surgeonfish and red sea bream, with spiny lobster, zebra crabs, commensal shrimp and squat lobsters present all year. Nudibranchs, small crustaceans and frogfish are regular macro finds. Being inside Owase Bay the visibility is a little lower, but there is almost no swell or current and it suits divers from beginner/novice level.
