About this site
Nagase (長瀬) is a boat dive at Owase on the Kii Peninsula coast of Mie, three minutes from the harbour on the south side of Saburujima, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 18 m. Two hidden reefs sit about 10 m apart, with the anchor on the second; a sheer wall from 17 to 30 m is covered in huge sea fans and soft coral. Large schools of cardinalfish, cherry anthias and damselfish share the wall with angelfish, lionfish and grouper, while nudibranchs, frogfish, longnose hawkfish and commensal shrimp provide the macro life all year. Little current; because of the depth it is better suited to intermediate divers and above.
