About this site
Hokkawa Hatcho (八丁) is a boat-dive site off Hokkawa, Higashiizu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 17 m, suitable from beginner level. A buoy line runs from the surface to the bottom and the site lies directly below it, so there is little swimming. Good water flow gives a high chance of eagle rays and other large animals, takabe and jack school here from summer to autumn, and a small tunnel through the rock is known as the mini Hatcho arch.
