About this site
Hokkawa Tetra (テトラ) is a boat-dive site 2 minutes from the harbour at Hokkawa, Higashiizu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 17 m, suitable from beginner level. A rope runs from surface to bottom, and the terrain divides into boulders and sand around a set of tetrapods. Cardinalfish, sardines and jack school near the tetrapods, the rocks hold nudibranchs, frogfish, blennies, commensal shrimps and anthias, egg cowries live on the sea fans and soft coral, and eagle rays and Japanese bullhead sharks turn up on the sand.
