About this site
Tako Ne (タコ根) is a shore-entry site at Atagawa, Higashiizu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 10 m, suitable from beginner level with little current. It is shallow and close to the entry, with a small underwater arch right after entering that holds frogfish and nudibranchs. Beyond the arch an anemone field is home to anemonefish and threespot dascyllus, and the open sand beyond holds Japanese bullhead sharks, angel sharks, guitarfish and eagle rays, with cardinalfish, silver-stripe round herring, sardines and sheepshead wrasse also seen.
