About this site
Idesari (イデサリ) is a boat site 5 minutes from Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, defined by its five-way arch. Boarfish and many other fish live permanently inside the arch, and batfish and turtles are common, with schools of more than 100 batfish at times; maximum depth 30 m, average around 14 m, suitable from beginner level, with current at times. Wrought-iron butterflyfish, angelfish, triggerfish and Tosa angelfish are typical, and because the site lies on a fishing-boat route a surface marker must be sent up before ascending.
