About this site
Ikejiri Kaigan (池尻海岸) is a shore-entry tide pool built along the coast at Inatori, Higashiizu, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 2.5 m and an average around 1.5 m, suitable for complete beginners with no current. It is used for children's snorkelling and refresher courses, but on scuba it turns up plenty of shallow-water life. Octopus, shrimps, several kinds of blennies, rockskippers, stripey and gobies live in the pool.
