About this site
Izu Ocean Park Ni no Ne (2の根) is a shore-entry site at Izu Ocean Park, Yawatano, Ito, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 30 m, intermediate and above. The distance from shore favours intermediate divers or a 14-litre tank, and the reef has sheer drop-offs on both sides that call for good depth control and buoyancy; further out it splits into the third and fourth reefs. Both walls are packed with soft coral and crustaceans, jack, takabe and chicken grunt school around them, a hole on the south wall holds grouper and blue-barred parrotfish, and cat sharks and banded houndsharks gather nearby in the cold months.
