About this site
Kaiyo Center Mae (海洋センター前) is a shore site on Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, about ten minutes by car, with a maximum depth of 18 m and an average around 8 m. The site has three zones, branching coral, sand and beds of staghorn Acropora, and the large colonies of branching coral are the main feature. Butterflyfish of several species, damselfish and sergeant majors are typical; there is little current and the site is suitable from beginner level.
