Kakihara

Kakihara (カキハラ) is a shore-entry site on Izu Oshima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, entered by giant stride from the rocks with little drop, exiting at the same spot or from the surrounding rocks. The bottom is mostly sand, and turtles are often found sleeping on the reef further offshore; maximum depth 15 m, average around 10 m, suitable from beginner level, with little current. It faces the same direction as Aki no Hama and is a useful alternative when western sites such as Noda Hama are closed, though as an open-coast site swell needs watching.
