About this site
Memezu Hama (メメズ浜) is a shore-entry site on Izu Oshima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, where a shelf drops vertically into a drop-off that grows taller further offshore. Soft coral and cup coral cover the drop-off; maximum depth around 30 m, average around 12 m, suitable from beginner level, with current that is fast at times. A careful look turns up nudibranchs and frogfish hiding among the sponges.
