About this site
Kasumi no Ne (カスミの根) is a boat dive at Shirahama on the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama, thirteen minutes from the harbour a little offshore of Kajiwarajima, with a maximum depth of 32 m and an average around 25 m. A long, narrow pinnacle rises from about 30 m to a top at 18 to 20 m and is crowded with largely undamaged soft coral, longnose hawkfish, nudibranchs and colourful anthias, with schools of yellowback fusilier and rainbow runner passing through. The feature of the site is a bed of large sand anemones spread vertically between 27 and 32 m. Current present, intermediate and above.
