About this site
Asa Ebise (浅海老瀬) is a boat dive at Shirahama on the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama, seven minutes from the harbour just off the Senjojiki rock shelf, with a maximum depth of 18 m and an average around 13 m. Unlike neighbouring Ebise the terrain is a cluster of rock outcrops of various sizes over a boulder bottom, with a leaning slab forming an arch and narrow gaps to slip through between the rocks. In summer painted sweetlips, normally solitary, gather in groups of around twenty hovering into the current near the bottom, and a small blenny can be found in the same spot each time. Current at times, intermediate and above.
