About this site
Kawana Hirane (平根) is a boat-dive site 12 minutes out from Kawana, Ito, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 24 m and an average around 18 m, suitable from beginner level with no current, and open for a limited season. Scattered rocks stand on sand, and simply following the rope line turns up both macro and wide subjects. Japanese bullhead sharks, cat sharks, eagle rays and sea turtles are the large targets.
