About this site
Kodate (コウダテ) is a boat site 35 minutes from Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, dived around a large reef; maximum depth 30 m. In the evening the bay is all but guaranteed to hold green turtles, and seeing more than ten at once is not unusual. There is usually no current close to shore, but leaving the bay for open water can mean a sudden torrent, so the tidal flow needs close attention.
