About this site
Wada (ワダ) is a boat site 25–35 minutes from Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, adjoining Utsuki, one of the two harbours on Hachijo-kojima. Immediately after entry there is a colony of garden eels numbering in the thousands or tens of thousands; maximum depth 30 m, average around 15 m, suitable from beginner level, with little current except offshore, where it can become a torrent. Red-toothed triggerfish, uncommon around Hachijo, are seen here, along with blue-spotted stingrays, longfin amberjack, schools of boarfish, pelagic threshers and hammerheads.
