About this site
Sanju Ne (三十根) is a boat site 30–40 minutes from Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, similar in terrain to Kodate but with a dramatic drop-off further offshore. The dive is on the deep side with correspondingly short bottom times, but its fish life ranks near the top of the island's sites; maximum depth 30 m, average around 24 m, intermediate and above, with current that is often fast, so it is dived only when all conditions line up. Longfin amberjack of over 1 m, wahoo and yellowfin tuna are seen regularly, along with hammerheads, fusiliers, angelfish, barracuda, anthias and triggerfish.
