About this site
Italian cargo ship (L'Italien) of 84 m torpedoed by the submarine Taurus on 10 March 1943, lying flat on her hull in 34 m about 11 km off the Espiguette lighthouse and 6 km from the coast, near the Suédois. The upper structures rise above the turbid layer that often sits over the mud and are the most rewarding part. Shoals of bogue and horse mackerel over the wreck; anthias, bream, pouting and forkbeard inside; a busy site for confirmed Level 2 divers.
