Mitohama Kurosaki Beach

Kurosaki Beach (黒崎ビーチ) is a shallow shore-entry site at Mitohama in Miura on the Miura Peninsula, Kanagawa, with a maximum depth of 8–9 m and an average around 3–5 m, used for open-water, advanced and rescue courses as well as easy dives. From the entry the route passes between reefs onto open sand with a large reef beyond, and the rock, sand and seaweed each hold their own life, so the shallow depth allows long dives. No current; beginner level. Wrasse, neon damsels, gobies, blennies, sergeant majors, cardinalfish, goatfish, boxfish, pinecone fish, filefish, striped beakfish, sea bream, nudibranchs, spiny lobster and banded houndsharks live on the rocks, with garden eels, lizardfish, pufferfish, flounder, flatfish and mullet on the sand, and seasonal tropical visitors from autumn to winter.
