About this site
Nezumi Iwa (ネズミ岩) is a boat-dive site at Bikuni on the Shakotan Peninsula, Hokkaido, about twenty minutes from Bikuni harbour, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an average around 12 m. Huge boulders that fell from the peninsula's 100 m sea cliffs lie piled on one another, forming an unusually large number of tunnels and swim-throughs. There is a light current year-round, so the site is dived as a drift; suitable from beginner level. Nudibranchs, sheepshead wrasse, blennies, damselfish, flounder, flatfish and rockfish are typical.
