About this site
Noda Hama (野田浜) is a shore-entry site on Izu Oshima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, centred on an arch about 2 m high and 5 m wide. The area is compact and shallow, but the sand and varied reefs form a dense, garden-like layout; maximum depth 12 m, average around 10 m, suitable from beginner level, with current that is fast at times and can make the main arch hard to reach when the offshore flow pushes in. A rip current runs in the channel beyond the end of the guide rope, especially with surge, pleasure boats sometimes anchor here, and the beach is shared with swimmers in summer.
