About this site

Palancar Bricks is part of the larger Palancar Reef system off the west coast of Cozumel, within the Palancar Marine Park section of the island's protected reef line. It is a coral spur and buttress formation known for swim-throughs, arches, and sponge-covered coral heads, with a maximum depth of about 28.4 metres over a reef bottom. Current runs light here and visibility is typically great, making the drift along the reef structure comfortable for intermediate divers. Eagle rays, grouper, and sea turtles are regular sightings, and divers have also reported angelfish, jacks and amberjack, lobster, moray eels, nurse sharks, octopus, parrotfish, seahorses, snapper, and wrasse around the formation.
