About this site
The Persevearance was a two-masted schooner that was lost in the Straits of Mackinac South Channel in a collision with the schooner Grey Eagle. She went down with a cargo of wheat, but her crew were all saved by the Grey Eagle. The site lies directly in the modern vessel track and so is not buoyed. The hull is buried into the bottom nearly to the railing, with the stern transom lying nearby. You must broadcast a warning to shipping before diving this site, and avoid it in poor visibility. Lies in about 19.8 m; sank 1864.
