Ras Mohammed

Ras Mohammed sits at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, where the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Gulf of Suez, a short boat ride from Sharm el-Sheikh. It is a national park protecting a series of steep walls and reef points, with Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef among its best known formations, dropping off along a wall bottom to a maximum depth of around 30 metres. Barracuda and tuna are regular sightings along the drop-offs, and divers have also reported angelfish, batfish, clownfish, grouper, snapper, unicornfish, scorpionfish, reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, manta rays, dugongs and even whale sharks passing through. Remnants of the Yolanda wreck's cargo remain scattered across one of the reef slopes. Despite the depth range and the site's reputation for strong currents at the points, it is rated as a beginner dive overall.
