About this site
Shark Reef sits at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula within Ras Mohammed National Park, where the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Gulf of Suez. Together with neighboring Yolanda Reef it forms one of the most dived sites out of Sharm el-Sheikh, marked by a steep wall dropping to a maximum depth of around 60 metres, with strong currents sweeping along the reef face. Divers regularly encounter barracuda, batfish, eagle rays, and snapper here, and many have also reported angelfish, grouper, hammerhead sharks, manta rays, moray eels, octopus, tuna, unicornfish, Napoleon wrasse, and even whale sharks passing through. The site is often dived as a drift from Shark Reef toward Yolanda, and despite the strong current it is rated a beginner dive on a reef bottom.
