About this site
Font Estramar is a freshwater resurgence spring near Salses-le-Château in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of southern France, close to the Mediterranean coast, where water emerges from an extensive karst system. It is rated technical, with a maximum depth of 36 metres. Divers have reported a complex labyrinth of passages with dead ends, extreme decompression requirements, sharp rock formations, and the risk of high pressure nervous syndrome at depth. It remains one of the region's notable cave diving sites for those working within its karst network.
