About this site
Siaba Besar sits off a small island within Komodo National Park, in the Flores Sea waters of West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, typically reached by liveaboard or day boat out of Labuan Bajo. The site tops out around 18 metres over a reef bottom, with light current and good visibility, and is rated a beginner dive. It holds frogfish, ghost pipefish, manta rays, and nudibranchs, and divers have also reported turtles, seahorses, mandarinfish, garden eels, sweetlips, snapper, pufferfish, leaf scorpionfish, mantis shrimp, and even blue-ringed octopus and bumphead parrotfish here, along with occasional Napoleon wrasse and ornate ghost pipefish.
