About this site

Tatawa Besar sits near Siaba Besar in the Komodo National Park, in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, reached by boat from Labuan Bajo. It is a sloping reef dive with good coral coverage, running from a shallow reef flat down to around 14 metres, and is rated a beginner dive with light current and good visibility over a reef bottom. Divers regularly encounter batfish, eagle rays, frogfish, fusiliers, manta rays, snapper, and sweetlips here. Sightings of angelfish, anthias, mandarinfish, humphead wrasse, octopus, reef sharks, sea turtles, surgeonfish, trevally, and triggerfish have also been reported. The combination of gentle conditions and shallow depth makes it an easy, approachable dive within the park.
