About this site
Uchizan (ウチザン) is a reef site around an exposed rock midway between Mae Island and Tokashiki Island in the Kerama Islands, Okinawa, with a maximum depth of 30 m. The north side is a hill-like rock platform covered in coral where sharks are common; the south side is a maze of channels, with the reef top at about 5 m and crevasse floors dropping to nearly 30 m. Large fish are frequent, but the current is moderate to strong and complex, so extra care is needed; intermediate and above.
