USS Gilliam was an attack transport used as a target ship in the 1946 Operation Crossroads nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll, in the Marshall Islands. It lies within the atoll's lagoon along with other target fleet vessels sunk or scuttled during that period. Diving in Bikini Atoll generally involves deep wreck sites reached by liveaboard, given the remote location and logistics of getting to the Marshall Islands.
