About this site
Asasone (アサ曽根) is a wall dive by boat in the Kamigoto area of the Goto Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture, from 3 m to a maximum depth of 30 m with an average around 15 m, for intermediate divers and above. Water flow is strong and the site cannot be dived on spring tides. Soft coral carpets the rock faces like a flower meadow, while jacks, chicken grunt and yellowstriped butterfish (takabe) school in walls. Large stingrays are seen, and amberjack and parrotfish chase silver-stripe round herring through the site.
