About this site
Yaneojima (屋根尾島) is a boat dive in the sheltered bay of an uninhabited island in the Shimogoto area of the Goto Islands around Fukue, Nagasaki Prefecture, with depths of about 5 to 25 m, suitable from beginner level, with current on the ebb tide. Following the sand and reef edge seaward leads to a large black coral where giant frogfish are found with high reliability. Further out a large pinnacle holds spiny lobster, red sea bream, chicken grunt, opaleye, golden sweepers, sweepers and stripey, and rare nudibranchs turn up at times.
