About this site
Biano Kakurene (ビアノ隠れ根) is a boat-dive site at Bikuni on the Shakotan Peninsula, Hokkaido, about eight minutes from Bikuni harbour, with a maximum depth of 23 m and an average around 10 m. It is the underwater continuation of the Biano cape headland: a hidden pinnacle of columnar basalt that rises abruptly from the sandy bottom at about 23 m and never breaks the surface. Occasional current; suitable from beginner level. Sitting in open water, visibility reaches 25 m at its best, and the site suits divers who like topography, deeper profiles and drop-offs.
