Budai Ne

Budai Ne (ブダイ根) lies east of Shirane and close to Kame Ne at Mikomoto Island off Shimoda, southern Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka, 16 minutes by boat; like Shirane it is unaffected by the ebb but exposed on the flood. The area is relatively large with varied terrain of sand, arches and caves, which gives a good chance of banded houndsharks; maximum depth 25 m, average around 16 m, from novice level, with current. Takabe, chicken grunt, surgeonfish, emperors, longtooth grouper, boarfish, red sea bream, largescale blackfish and parrotfish are typical, blennies provide macro interest on the reef, and angel sharks, batfish, thresher sharks and ocean sunfish have been seen.
