About this site
Kado Ne (カド根) lies off Enokuchi and Mitsune at Mikomoto Island off Shimoda, southern Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka, 16 minutes by boat. It is a flat reef projecting about 120 m from Enokuchi, its top at 22–25 m rising to 19 m at the far end before a drop-off falls to 45 m, and the usual style is to hold the reef top and wait for big fish; maximum depth 26 m, average around 19 m, from novice level, with current that is hard on beginners, and depth needs watching. Yellowtail, Japanese amberjack, amberjack, takabe, chicken grunt, requiem sharks, eagle rays, longtooth grouper and rainbow runners are typical, with sand tiger sharks, manta rays and dolphinfish at the surface as rarer sightings.
