About this site
Oiwa (大岩) is a pinnacle site off Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, 20 minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of 26 m and an average around 10 m. The slope alternates coral, sand and coral again, and striped large-eye bream and yellowfin goatfish school directly beneath the entry point, with lemonpeel and Japanese angelfish and razorfish around them. Dogtooth tuna and almaco jacks appear from time to time; current runs at times and the site is suitable from beginner level.
