About this site
Hanahige Point (ハナヒゲポイント) is a coral slope squeezed between two islands off Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, reached by a 20-minute boat ride, with a maximum depth of 26 m and an average around 16 m. Ribbon eels, which give the site its name, and boxer crabs are commonly found, and the island side forms a clean wall rich in nudibranchs, with decorator crabs, whip-coral gobies and whip coral shrimp among the macro life. Current runs at times; intermediate and above.
