About this site
San no Iwa (三の岩) is a pinnacle site a three-hour boat run from Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 16 m. The rock is split by fissures that hold spiny lobster in extraordinary numbers, and Guenther's butterflyfish school in the deeper water, with yellowback and dark-banded fusiliers around the rock. The current is strong and the site is for advanced divers only.
