About this site
Eagle Ray Rock (イーグルレイロック) lies off Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, 20 minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of 16 m and an average around 12 m. Rocks rise from 16 m to the surface amid dense coral growth, and spotted eagle rays turn up with some luck. Schools of yellowfin goatfish, glasseyes and striped large-eye bream hold on the rock, with red spiny lobster, boxer crabs and commensal shrimp in the crevices; a gentle current runs and the site suits intermediate divers and above.
