About this site
Emerald Bay lies on the Bukit Peninsula in southern Bali, along the same limestone coastline that faces the Lombok Strait toward Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. Access is typically by boat from nearby harbors on the peninsula's southeastern shore, down a steep cliffside path where one exists, or by boat directly into the small bay itself. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres, with light current and good visibility, making it a beginner-friendly dive. Angelfish, bannerfish, garden eels, grouper, and sweetlips are regularly seen on the reef, and divers have also reported barracuda, bumphead parrotfish, eagle rays, fusiliers, manta rays, mola mola, Napoleon wrasse, octopus, parrotfish, pufferfish, reef sharks, stingrays, trevally, and even whale sharks passing through.
