About this site
Nakanoshima (中ノ島) is a boat-only wall site at Asahi on Toyama Bay, Toyama, dived from an anchored boat with a maximum depth of 18 m and an average around 10 m. Facing out to sea, the east side is a sheer wall that runs for more than 200 m while the west side slopes gently down to sand, two very different settings on one dive. Current can be fast at times; suitable from beginner level, but prior boat-diving experience is required. Descent is along the anchor line or a descent rope, and large red sea bream, schools of young yellowtail, chicken grunt, largescale blackfish, gobies and nudibranchs are typical.
