About this site
Okinose Labyrinth (沖の瀬 ラビリンス) is a drift dive at Asahi on Toyama Bay, Toyama, with a maximum depth of 26 m and an average around 15 m. Large boulders piled on one another form a maze, and between the reefs grow stony corals over 1 m across, among the largest on the Sea of Japan coast, together with thick black coral and gorgonians. Current can be fast at times; intermediate and above, dived as a drift with a free descent, so divers must be able to reach the bottom unaided and full-foot fins are recommended. Nudibranchs, red-spotted grouper, yellow grouper, Asian sheepshead wrasse, yellowtail amberjack and young yellowtail are typical.
