About this site
Okinose Suichu Sando (沖の瀬 水中参道) is a drift dive at Asahi on Toyama Bay, Toyama, with a maximum depth of 25 m and an average around 12 m. A dead-straight path of rounded stones like a paved approach runs across the bottom near the spot where, by village tradition, a shrine once stood, hence the name of underwater shrine approach. Current can be fast at times; intermediate and above, dived as a drift with a free descent, so divers must be able to reach the bottom unaided and full-foot fins are recommended. Nudibranchs, red-spotted grouper, Asian sheepshead wrasse and young yellowtail are typical.
