About this site
Hirasaki (平崎) is a popular dive site in the Makurazaki and Bonotsu area of Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an average around 10 m, suitable from beginner level. Sand, coral, reef and boulders are all present in one site. It has a strong record for rare finds, including frogfish, ornate ghost pipefish, shrimp gobies, lionfish, guitarfish and assorted nudibranchs, and two dives here in a day is a common request.
