About this site
Itajikibana (板敷鼻) is a boat-dived reef in Osaki Bay on Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture, about 18 minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of 20 m. On shore large flat rocks lie stacked in layers, and the same formation continues underwater as a stepped rock slope rising from offshore. Sheltered inside the bay, conditions are usually calm and the site suits unhurried marine-life observation. Intermediate and above.
