Kogidashi (Big Crevasse / Oasis)

Kogidashi (こぎ出し) is a wall site southeast of Jogashima on the Miura Peninsula, Kanagawa, with a maximum depth of 35 m, combining two areas. Big Crevasse is a large fault crack in the bedrock at 18 m whose overhanging walls and ceiling are hung with soft coral and hundreds of orange cup corals, and the largest stony coral colony in Tokyo Bay grows along the 20 m line, with big Asian sheepshead wrasse and banded houndsharks around it. Oasis is a set of current-free channels in the bedrock at 10 m, from which a bearing leads 35 m to Hanare Ne, an isolated pinnacle rising 10 m off the sand with dense baitfish and predators, then on to a stepped circular Stadium and, for advanced divers, the fish-rich Itopyon spot. Guide lines run north and south from the buoy, making routes easy to follow; suitable from beginner level.
