About this site
Iwamae (岩前) is a shallow boat site on the Kumano coast of Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture, about 5 minutes from Kumano fishing harbour, with a maximum depth of 5 m. Small rock outcrops dot the sand and hold schooling fish, and the short crossing and calm water make it a good choice for divers prone to seasickness. It is well suited to try dives and check dives. Suitable from beginner level; the site was closed as of 2007.
