About this site
Takezaki Beach (竹崎ビーチ) is a shore-entry site at the southern tip of Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 6 m and a sandy bottom. It lies within the grounds of the space centre, with showers and changing rooms, and doubles as a swimming beach in summer. It is used mainly for try dives and courses; a small rocky island sits just offshore with branching coral around it that holds tropical fish, and in early summer the coral is full of white bigfin reef squid eggs. Suitable from beginner level.
