About this site
Manta Point sits within Nusa Tenggara Timur province, in the waters around the Komodo National Park area of eastern Indonesia. This stretch of the Lesser Sunda Islands is known for strong tidal currents funneling through narrow straits between islands, which draw manta rays to certain cleaning and feeding areas along the coast. The site itself is a sand-bottomed reef reaching about 20 metres, rated a beginner dive with light current and great visibility, though some divers have noted stronger currents can pick up here. Eagle rays, grouper, and manta rays are regularly seen, and divers have also reported batfish, bumphead parrotfish, cuttlefish, fusiliers, mobula rays, nudibranchs, pufferfish, reef sharks, scorpionfish, sea turtles, snapper, surgeonfish, sweetlips, trevally, unicornfish, and wrasse around the reef.
