About this site
Masuda Radar Oki (増田レーダー沖) is a boat-dived reef off Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture, about 30 minutes by boat, with a maximum depth of 40 m. The anchor goes down at the shallowest point at 12 m and the dive drops gradually into deeper water, where a gully at 20 m is the place to wait for giant trevally. Schools of over a hundred spotted eagle rays have been met here, and a little current improves the odds of sharks. Advanced divers only; the site was closed as of 2007.
